Now That I have your attention.

I see soooo many caffe bikes with either one gauge or zero gauges. Is that legal in the states?

What gauge to you guys run? Im guessing the tach.

How do you plug the holes in the caseings where the cables entered?

Don't know what the laws are south of the border but they may vary from state to state. Generally a speedo is required for certification but not a tach since many cruisers don't have them. But a lot of choppers don't have any gauges so ask your local bike shop. Ther are tach mount plugs available but I'm not sure where. You can always get a machinist to make you one.

in california you need a speedo and odo. im pretty sure all states require odo, unless the bike is old enough to not have had one originally (which basically goes for everything.).

basic rule for dmv is "if it dident have originally, you dont need it now". im sure you could swindle that however you want if your registered it as a custom build...

most places will requier a speedo even if bike didnt have one stock, alot choppers use removeable ones so can go bare bars when on diplay.

In Connecticut she has to be 18 and....oh wrong subject, Ct has the "if it came with it, it should still have it" rule of thumb.....what blows is if you get caught, they give you a temporary plate and make you go through inspection, under a microscope basically, before you get a real plate back. We try to draw as little attention to ourselves as possible here...it seems the crotch rockets are getting the brunt of it currently with the fluch mounted signals and louder pipes...there's actually checkpoints in some areas

also depending on the bike you might be able to register as a historical vehicle which gives you alot of room to move. check the dmv website for your site to see what is required to register as historical or (as i mentioned before) custom build.
