Been working on my fork seal replacement. Am I screwed?

Hi all,

I've been working on my fork seals the past day and I ran into some trouble.
According to the manual, it says to "carefully pry out the fork seal with the screw driver". I tried and it wouldn't budge. I ran out of the house to run some errands. When I came back, my dad put a screwdriver and a hammer to the existing seals. Here is a picture of what they look like now. They are very well stuck on there. I cannot put the fork back together to try some of the methods that are on this forum. Help me out folks!

Screw drywall screws into the face of the seals, and pull. If you have a slide hammer, it's a great way to tug on the screw you have screwed into the face of the seal.

Also, don't be afraid to heat the tube around the seal with a torch.

Is that a circlip or some sort of retainer on the outside of the seal?
