Best way to keep rust away?

So I am using Red Kote on the inside of my gas tank. I have a gas tank stop that has a lot of surface rust and a bit of pitting. I cleaned it off with some rust oleum goop and then wire brushed the pitting. Now to permanently keep the rust off, do I need to paint it? Currently it is covered in WD-40, but I don't think that will work when I need to put gas in it. What would you guys do? Thanks!

Keep gas in the tank rather than water. And if you haven't already applied the Red Kote, consider Caswell or POR15

Gasoline in the tank. If you paint it, the gas will eat it off and clog the carbs.

as said above keep gas in the tank and she'll be good to go. Dont use the kreem liners or similar products. I bought one to prepare my tank as I built the bike, having only read marketing whooha rather than the advice of others, and it has created a few headaches with petcock flow. Now im trying to find a way to strip the liner.
