Biggest Headlight Bucket Size?

Hey guys... I'm toying with the idea of some "vintage-style" mods for my 2000 Triumph Speed Triple and have a question on headlights:


My bike, like all the S3s, is fitted with dual headlamps:

Cool and all, but I have something different in mind, namely to replace the gauges with something more vintage-looking, and nestle the gauge behind a single. HUGE headlamp bucket.


I looked around and found the typical 7" units everywhere, but I'm thinking... bigger. Cyclopean, even. 8"... maybe 9".


Does anyone know of a vintage bike that used such a large headlamp bucket, and where I'd get a BULB for such a beast? I'm still pondering whether I'd fab up a cool mounting bracket to use with the stock dual-lamp mount system (likely) or if I'd just pull the entire assembly and fit standard fork ears as well.

Look for an SV650 unit. 8", but looks bigger. Also, it takes an H4 bulb ($8 at any auto parts store).

Looks nice! The H4 replacement bulb is a HUGE plus - thanks!

Also, in the early 80's there were some Suzi's that had 9 or 10 inch headlights. Very distinctive when you saw one...

Consider that one as an example only. I was simply pointing out that they exist...

Early XJ650 Yamaha's had a 9" headlight as well.

But probably in the same price range as the GS if you can find one

I think it's the largest diameter stock headlight fitted to a 'modern' bike
Even in a small pic you can see the difference between 1100 E and 1100G

At least there are several options. What places do people use for internet salvage searches? Most I've seen are web forms, which never seem to get replied to - is there a better way?
