Thanks Joe for sending the video as that is awesome that she is running! Filled me with a ton of energy to get the seat frame ready for the cover and foam application. I plan to have the cover and foam fitted in the beginning of this week, however wanted to send the thread a couple teaser photos (before and after) for the beginning of the week!
A special thanks to my father who set his projects aside this weekend to help coach me through the process as I am still a newbie with these sorts of things. Without him I would not have been able to come close to finishing this project in 2 days. Lots of tedious cleaning/prepping to make sure the finish came out right.
Hope to have the completed seat photos on the thread by next weekend once everything is completed.

Hey - I might have to ship you a seat to restore for me! Seriously nice work. I've got a Honda CA95 seat that is very similar in construction and after 50 years it is in need of some TLC.

Send it on over and I'll see what I can do! I love the older hondas I got a few older small cc hondas I play with as well.
The whole frame/springs/hardware got blasted with a mix of media that I use to vut rust but not rough the metal up. Then powdercoated the frame with a satin black finish. Once the frame was done I built a jig to streatch all of the springs out and blasted them as well. Once they were done I sprayed them with a few coats of silver paint with a satin clear finish.
Thanks for the credit but I have to admit it was not all me as my father helped out immensly.

Brother casi the seat looks amazing, you both did absolutely beautiful work on it and I can not wait to see it on the bike!
I sprayed the clear on the chain guard today so I should be able to mount it tomorrow, I also straightened the heat shields for the right side of the bike and am going to sand them some more tonight so I may be able to mount them tomorrow as well!

Now that looks awesome Joe more like a decorative piece than a practical piece.
My father and I spent some time tonight finalizing the seat by adding the decorative bottom rivets and adding the grab strap onto the seat frame. Hope you all like the before and after.
Joe I am shipping this tomorrow so hopefully you have it by the close of the week.

That's pretty incredible. Now, did you do the cover or is it an aftermarket piece? I've got a new vinyl cover from Thailand, and honestly, I probably just have to take mine apart and spray the frame and clean the springs, but if it's in worse shape, I might just send it your way for some obviously professional help.

The cover was actually made in Thailand like yours as they were the only ones who could make the heat seamed suede top. This seat has some very interesting details such as the suede, not stitch top with only side stitching and under stitching on the vinyl.
All's I can recommend is take as many pictures as you think necessary then go over it again and take new pictures from different angles. The key in the photos is the individual teeth that hold the cover on, hardware location, spring location, spring direction, strap location, grommet locations, rivet locations etc. There can never be enough photos when working on something so old.
The soft foam was replaced around the top and sides however in the interest of preserving/restoring to original we reused the high density foam over the springs and around the back of the seat. My upholsterer was very nice to work with as he agreed in my plans to restore the seat not simply replace everything for new.
If you want a hand let me know and I will try to do whatever I can to help.

Brothers you are both true craftsman, I can honestly say that is the finest motorcycle seat restoration work I have ever seen! I can not wait to see that beautiful seat on the bike!

Can't believe this build is already over. I can not wait to see her in her stable with her new family at home. It will be a long journey for her in the crate but Joe you can chalk this build up as a win since she is trully amazing. I will post some pictured of her as she arrives home this weekend!
