Broken engine studs

So pulling the motor studs for the cylinder and heads two studs broke off just above the top crankshaft case. Anyone know of a good remedy to fix this problem?

Thought about drilling through the rest of the stud welding a washer and a nut on top of the broken stud and backing it out with a wrench. I can guarantee that an easy out isn't going to work.

Anyone have similar issues and if so how did you fix it?

I've had good success rates with exhaust studs using the weld on a nut trick. Can't see why it wouldn't work on a case stud. I'd probably just weld it straight on without drilling the bolt - if you drill the bolt it may snap off inside the case when you try and back it out.

And just make sure you don't get any splatter on the mating surface for the cylinders.
