No font fork brace. No front suspension travel either. Tires too fat for the rims. Crappy tires. That bike looks like a handling nightmare. I wouldn't go over 20 miles am hour on it.
I understand the looks appeal, but that bike is a show piece to me, not a bike for riding.

I agree with you....A little closer to stock, and that is a fine bike.
[rant] I am puzzled that so many ruin the handling and reliability of the bike for looks. I am for making the bike look better, but I don't like sacrificing performance for looks. To me, a custom, cast aluminum fork brace would be far sexier and an improvement to function, over no brace at all.
So many of the mods made just degrade overall performance, it baffles me why they are so popular. Maybe it is a lack of understanding on the modder's part. Lowering the forks down does look "hot", but having the wheel hit the frame or triple clamp on full compression is idiotic to me.
Oversize tires on undersize rims is another mistake. There are so many modded bikes that used the proper equipment to get the looks and performance together, that the cheap, slide the forks all the way down looks like they only ride the bike to Walmart and back. Putting undersized shocks cause they look cool is another one.
Those Coker/Firestone tires are not the sixties look either, they are 50's. In the 60's and 70's, the Dunlop K50 (?) tires were the hot setup. Nobody was putting Firestones on their bikes in the late 60's and 70's...I was there....wasn't happening. If you had a fast bike, you wanted fast tires, and fat Firestones are the opposite of whatever a fast tire is......They are strictly period look tires, not performance...

No doubt. It's a nice looking ride but it has a few short comings as previously mentioned. I'd be using the rear shocks, fork brace and tires as a bargaining chip to get that price lowered. Get those things fixed, raise the forks a little and this would be a fun and good looking ride. I'd rather take the $5500 and build something myself, but this could be a good little turn key for the right price.
