whats up,

i need some minor questions answered. if any one can help???

i recently just bought a cb 650 custom, and want to run pod filters on it. would make it look and sound better..
on this bigger sized eng, would i have to reject the carbs. i have been told that i would'nt have to??????

was told by other guys with bigger engs, and they have'nt.
if any body out there can give me some insight it would be great..

i have a 1979 cb650 that i successfully put pod filters on:

it runs pretty fuckin good.

for the cb650, the 79-80 carbs are "piston" type carbs and the 81-82 carbs are "CV" type carbs. They unfortunately are completely different carbs with different stock jetting, so the jetting that i'm running will be completely different than what you would have to do with the 81-82 carbs.

but... just for reference, this is what my set-up is for the 79-80 carbs:

STOCK set-up with regular air filter is:
main - 90
slow - 35
idle mixture screw - 1.5 turns out

POD filter set-up is:
main - 118
slow - 42
idle mixture screw - 2 turns out

i'm running the stock exhaust with header wrap on it.

with this set-up, my bike runs pretty damn good. it took me over a month of trial and error with different jetting combinations, and this is the best set-up so far. tuning an old bike like this with pod filters is a pain in the ass!!!!!

just know that, with pods, it will never run as smooth as it did with stock set-up.
