Hello all Café racers, greetings from Finland! I thought you'd like to see what I've been working on this winter! A Honda CB750K caferacer on a tight budget!

Nice! Would love to see more on how the tail light/plate bracket is mounted on the underside of the fender. Also, where is the battery, and where did you get the seat?

Thank you for the comments on my bike, as you can see the finish isn't much to talk about but it's in progress, hopefully! Our summers here in northern Europe is quite short so I'm planning to ride it as is this summer and hopefully get some finish on it next winter. The seatpan was made by a friend ( my cousin ) who also helped my with the frame mods, the seat area. The upholstery on the seat was made locally in only two days ;D!! The battery is hidden under the swing, centerstand removed! I'll get some photos of the bracket, very simple it won't hold all summer!

That is a pretty cool looking bike. Is the tank stock? What color are you planning to paint it? Who makes those pipes? So many questions.

Would like to see the battery under the swingarm. I'm still working out where to put mine, and that might be an option.

Pn the topside of the tail light there is a thin sheet of aluminium (1 mm) that is bonded to the fender. To that the light and the holder is bolted. I've to come up with some sort of reinforcement before I loose the whole thing in some bump :o. The tire is also rubbing against it in bump so that isn't good.

The tank got a little extension to the back, my bodywork really sucks. The tank is very uneven and rough. The fillercap is of an CB125 tank. And the instrumentation is also quite basic ::).

Not a good picture but as good as it gets at the moment! The fit is really tight, i've to loosen the dampers to get it in and out. i've got some pictures of the bare frame somewhere. I post it when i find it.

Thank you cbcafe, I suppose you also is building a caferacer out of an Honda CB of some kind :) like those! The tank is of an CB750F, it is about 8cm longer than the K's model. The back of the tank is also raised a little. don't remember exactly how much but if you look closely on the picture of the tank it shows. My friend made that also, got to love those kind of friends :D don't you. The filler neck and cap is replaced with an CB 125 item. The latch on the cap broke when I filled her up last Monday :( . I don't know how I'll fix it yet. I'm dreaming about a alu tank from WBO racing in Germany. It's for the sohc frame so it has to be modified to fit my frame!

BTW
I was on a run with the local MC club last Monday, mostly original Japanese bikes and some HD's. My café was one of the most looked at bikes there, aprox 100-150 other bikes in all. Mine was the only café racer.

I just completed my 1981 cb650 cafe and like you am in the process of debugging a fresh build. Mine was a much more basic approach ( first cafe ) with only seat mods, a bobbed rear fender and lighting and handlebar changes. Otherwise the bike is pretty much freshened up stock. Your latest posts on lighting and battery location give plenty of fuel for thought. You can find pictures of my bike in the show and shine section on this site.

kool project! Finally some DOHC. Any plans of switching to wire spokes? We have the same DOHC project bike in our roster and we switched to wire spokes. We just used CB SOHC 76-78 SS w/rear disc and bolted right on. Good Luck and love what you did on the battery.

That has allways been in the plan. I've got a front wheel wich needs a little modification to accept the brakedisks from this wheel. But the rear wheel is still on the to get list. BTW. I havn't owned a bike for nearly 30 years and this is my first big bike and my first projekt. ;D

Hi Cobrajet:

That is a great build you have there!

I'm helping build a cafe/chop/brat-style bike, and it has wheels just like yours. Did you disassemble them? If so, can you take some pics on the bolt-together arrangement?

I like that battery box idea. Benji did something similar, but it disappear quite as well as it does on your bike. Well done.

very cool build indeed. different than most. i really like the mixed style of cafe/brat. the seat, fender, lights all tie together very nicely. are you going to leave the tank primered or do you have more plans as far as color?

Thank you 904cafe, i think a use it as is this summer and hopefully I'm able to get the alu tank mentioned erlier during next winter.

I really like what you've done! Where did you get those fenders? They'd fit perfectly with what I'm doing, I love the simple lines!

Thank you swagger :D. the fenders are from a firm named Voimakone here in Finland. in Kuopio almost in Russia!
