CB100 troubles.

Hey DTT.

So, I bought a '72 CB100 and it was working alright for a while, but then it started taking a while to kick it over. One night I was looking at the kick start lever and it was slowly sliding off a little, so I loosened the bolt and pushed the lever back until it was flush then bolted it back. Now it feels like the teeth inside slip a little sometimes when I try to crank the lever back up after an unsuccessful start. Sometimes it gets stuck and won't even kick down.

Also, the bike was refusing to idle no matter how much the choke was played with, so I barely twisted the idle screw a hair this way and that, and now it won't start. It started up the other night, but there was no throttle response and after a few pops, the bike shut off. Did I adjust the screw too far either way? I've been unsuccessful at starting it since...except like once where it idled at high revs then gave up. I'm obviously a n00b, but any feedback will be appreciated since I really want to learn everything there is to know.

Halp?

Give up now! Donate the bike to me.

just leave the bike at the side of the road near your house, I will come by, start it up and thank you kindly.

Get the factory manual and read it.
It will walk you through the correct way to tune it

Sounds like either you shifter shaft is stripped or something internal is messed up.
but you have more then one problem
