cb200 not running -cam 180 out?

Holy Modification Batman
I've taken an cb200 engine apart and i can't get her to run.
When i'm correct, its possible to set the camshaft 180 degrees out. Could this have happened somewhere along the way?

The manual says:
Align rotor with 'T' mark. I did that and installed the camshaft with the points thingy upwards, as manual says.
Now, when i turn the crankshaft 360, the camshaft goes 180. So then i've got a rotor on 'T' and a camshaft 180 out. How the hell im i supposed to know wich one of the settings is right? I'm getting mad over this haha

please help!

Doesn't matter about the cam - it's OK but the points may be 180 degrees out. Th fix is either strip and rebuild motor (NOT) or grind a small slot 180 degrees out on the advance mechanism (not) or just pull the points cam off the advancer and turn it through 180 degrees.

It fires every 360 degrees of crank rotation, so it's not hard to check.

Check your timing. Remove the valve caps to check if it's close to TDC as the points open. If it's at BDC, make the swap.

My advancer has 2 nodges, telling me it fires 2 times every rotation? Turning it 180 would matter nothing?

No. It still only fires once every rotation of the cam. Turn the advancer 180° and try again.

Oh shit, sonreir and teazer both - can't refuse both haha ill do that right now, back in a few!

All ours have a DYNA S on the crank. OK let's start again. Your fires every TDC (and maybe every BDC as well). The only thing that matters is if the points open at the correct point for both sides. Do they?

Took of the advancer, popped the 2 circlips, took it apart, turned the notch-thing 180, reinstalled. set timing. nothing.
I don't understand why it matters to turn the advancer 180 as it has 2 identical nodges.

I set the timing as follows:

Turned the rotor to 'F'
Took a spare lamp and attached it to the frame and the spring on the points.
I than turned the plate so that the light comes on when rotor is on 'F'

That's correct right? To my assumption the cilinders fire not at the same time. left/right/left/right and that's why there are 2 nodges on the advancer, one for each cilinder. Correct?

You are right. With two cam lifts it should make no difference. are you getting a spark?

Yes, i have a spark on both wires. Carbs are cleaned ultrasonic and engine is fresh.
mixture, fire and compression are there but she's being a bitch...

You don't need to take the advancer apart. You need to simply remove it, clock it 180°, then put it back on. Try it again. By disassembling it, you may have put it on 180° again.

I cant clock it as there is only 1 hole in the back of it wich fits in the little nipple on the camshaft. I dont understand.

edit: as saud before and checked by teazer, i have a advancer with 2 high faces. One face is for the left cilinder, and one for the right. By rotating the advancer 180 i simply do nothing. I have 1 coil, wich gives a spark to both cilinders 2 times each rev of the camshaft, (and so 1 time per crank totation.

My pistons go up and down at the same time, but they dont get a spark at the same time. The coil fires both cilinders at the same time, but only one of the cilinders gets an explosion. The valves on right and left cilinder open and close at different times.

Every time the crank makes a full rev, the coil fires once at borh cilinders. One piston does the work while the other is doing nothing as his valves are opened. They dont work at the same time.

Is this true or false?

im getting crazy over this because there is no explosion what-so-ever. Nada. I never had this kind of trouble before and i don't get it. it doesn't even say "phooeef".

the way to see if your timing is correct on an engine with the points on the camshaft is to:

1: remove the tappet covers
2: attach a meter or continuity light to the points to tell where the points open
3: turn engine until the left cylinder is at top dead center and both lifters have slack (this is firing position, the other tdc is overlap)
4: verify left point is opening at the F mark directly before this point
5: if the points are opening at tdc and the lifters have no slack, then your spark is occurring at overlap and must be corrected

p.s. if you installed the cam very wrong, you would probably have noticed it resisting turning over due to valve contact (exactly 180 degrees wouldn't matter though)

When i push the kicker i can see a very little grey smoke coming out of the exhaust port. Barely noticable..

OK... if you only have one coil then you're on a 360° ignition. There's no way to install it backward. If you have compression and you have spark (that is timed correctly), then it has to be a fueling issue.

After trying to start it for a few minutes, pull the plugs. They should be quite wet with fuel.

My valves are ok, i set them at 0.05 as per manual and they are close at TDC. Well, atleast one side. When i turn the crankshaft 360 (again on TDC) the other side is closed and also set at 0.05.

I have 1 point, 1 coil and 2 cilinders.

I gave it some fierce kicks full throttle. Plugs are dry. I suck for not checking that before. Sorry!
