as for parts sourcing i use ebay the most!
i have a mate that works for frazers bikes......he buys direct from the manufacturers.....at trade rates for me....
though sometimes i end up doing ebay because tit still works out cheaper....
sometimes you have too get a little creative in the search field.....i also use ebay us, ebay au, ebay uk....
the gasket kit i just recieved came from poland and only took 4 days......sometimes i have too wait 4 weeks.....
depends on customs.....

dime city cycles is basically the only online store we regularly hit up for parts.
so today we got our bike back from garageprojects.
we got them to weld up a mid pipe between our headers and new mufflers.
came up nicely with some heat wrap.
also got brad at garage projects to help us fashio up a chain slider.
he came up with a pretty neat solution using an old oggy knob and machined the inside of it to fit around the swingarm!
we ended up putting oil in the engine today and after a few kicks realised the engine wasnt turning over so we're trying to figure out now why the transmission isnt connected to the engine.
fun times.

we bought some coils and mounted them.
decided the tacho we got wasnt gonna work on the bike with a speedo so we ditched in in favour of this one.
and just the other day we got some rare VM20s.
we had to wait about 3 months to get our hands on these.
new battery as well. its tiny.
and some replica rizoma mirrors from fleabay.

I was just going to say the same thing. People appear to read that 3 ohm are good for race bikes and assume that they are some sort of secret go fast trick but it's the other way round. We use 3 ohm because the bike is revving so high and need a coil that can build a spark quickly. Ours don't draw much extra current because we never drop below about 7000 revs on track. On a street bike 3 ohm coils suck way too much current out of the battery at regular revs. Coils and wiring tend to get hot and batteries don't always last.
Of course if the ignition system needs a lower inductance coil that's fine but most do not.

we had to get the exhaust redone as there was no clearance with our rearsets.
some nice welding work done by brad :thumbsup:
wrapped up both exhausts.
next we turned to the inlet manifolds.
As we're running non standard VM-20s the manifolds were slightly off so we cut slots in them to make em fit.
next thing is to fill in the holes in the manifold...find some velocity stacks to fit, wiring loom/electrics and we should be good to start it up.

geebus...it's been over 3 months since we've updated this thread...time to get it moving again!
so we've resorted the fuelling...got some inline fuel filters and replaced the bunning pvc hose with some proper fuel hose.
now for some custom stuff.
this is the old battery box
after some measuring, some cadding, and some ol' fashion cut and stick....here's the paper mockup of the new one.
we also mocked up a new fender eliminator.
and lastly a new gauge bracket.
some final touches to these drawings before we send them off to get laser cut and pcoated.

Great to see her taking form sooo close now I can almost smell the burning rubber lol. Tidy controls are they the done ones ???
