Hi guys ;) been lurking in the background for a couple weeks now trying to take everything on board,as a total motorcycle noob I'll probably be asking a load of silly questions.I've just bought a 81 cb 250rs and I'm looking forward to making it into street/dirt tracker bike.I'll get some pics up when Im home from work tomorrow :)

Well heres how it stands picked it up yesterday,Ive not rode a motorcycle for a couple years and I picked a bad day to yesterday "gale force winds" over here in the UK and on a little 250 :o Anyway got home in one piece!! Im not really sure which way to go with the bike at the moment I kinda like the flat/street tracker style Ive attached a couple of pics of what id like to achieve but this is gona be a big learning curve for me with limited mechanical knowledge,so if anybody can point me in the right direction for parts etc that'd be sweet.

Definitely looks like a good candidate for a Tracker, mate. Looks aside, what are the goals for your project?

Thanks Sonreir,I'd say my goals are to have a reliable light weight, simple bike for me to commute locally on,Id like to keep things as simple as possible because im "simple" ;D and most of all just have fun on it 8)

Good stuff. With that in mind you can't go too wrong with a small displacement Honda. Obviously, you won't be covering too many motorway miles on a 250, but it should make for a fun little B road bomber.

I don't see too much wrong with your inspiration pic but just a few things to keep in mind:
1.) Lack of a front fender (or at least a fender brace) will degrade the handling of the bike. It may look good, but it will feel worse.
2.) A two into one exhaust system will usually provide better performance over two separate pipes (and is often lighter as well).
3.) No rear fender will cause your paint to get chewed up by grit and dust and other road debris...

Yeah i totally agree what your saying.Theres no way it'll ever see the motorway again! It's just for blasting about on.Thanks for the pointers I never knew that about the front fender im learning already,I'll probably leave the exhaust downpipes for the time being but maybe put a different muffler on it?The rear fender ill keep but and chop it a little.I'm struggling to find out what tyres the the red bike has,and what size i can fit on my rims off the top of my head i think there 18x1.85 front&rear will this limit my tyre choice?

Well I woke up yesterday and she'd been stolen >:( absolutely gutted...

AAWWWwwwww DAMN MAN!
I'm sorry to hear that, I fkn hate thieves. >:(

Thanks man,its been recovered but in a sorry state the police have kept hold of the bike to carry out some forensic work,I hope they catch the little bastards >:( due to the bikes age the insurance company will probably call it a right-off and I'll have to look for a replacement.I fucking hate thieves.

shame its been stolen , but at least they found it matey! can you not buy it back from insurance? you were gonna rebuild it anyway? ;)
