cb350 Front end?

I bought a 71 cb350 a few weeks ago.

The Problem- the forks are not factory length. I really dont know what it is I have, and i need to know so I can return to stock height.

Here are some pics so you guys can help me out.






Is this enuf to answer my question? I can load more pics if need be. If it is not a cb front end, what is it?

just curious what makes you say they aren't stock? I can't see the pics on my phone. what year are they? 69-71 should have external springs, 72-73 had models with internal springs.
 
Those are terrible pics... Hahaha... Looks like a CB front end to me though. They made aftermarket extended fork tubes in the 70s.

Yep forks are extended. I've never dealt with extended forks. Sorry. Hopefully someone in the know will chime in
 
I know the forks have been extended. I just don't know if the trees were changed. I guess my question should really be, "do these look like stock trees?"

The problem I am having is the only demintions I can find for cb350 forks is they are 33mm. This does not help me. I have seen bikes where there were clamps on the top and bottom of the tree, so you could put longer forks on, and drop it down on the tubes and maintain stock stance.

I am a noob. I guess I was not clear in what the pictures were of, and we got to hung up on if they were longer forks or not

Probably if someone could just snap a few pics of the trees, and post them I could figure it out on my own.

If they are 33mm get some CB360 forks.

You can use them with disc or drum
 
To change to 360 forks I would also have to change the top of the triple tree. The 350 steps down to 28mm(I think) at the top of the fork. The 360 is 33mm all the way to the top.
 
Nothing about those forks makes sense...

Standard 1970 and above 350 forks are 33mm top to bottom. Thats a 71 model so if the fork tubes drop in size, theyre earlier. Just pick up a proper top tree (cb350, 1970+ or cb360) and some 350 or 360 fork legs.

Oh, and then sell me that seat. Haha...
 
Forgot about 'step' on early 350's.
Topyokes break if overtightened, if you can find one it will still be the easiest way to go.
Another alternative is a completely different front end, 'Katana 600' is an easy modification but it does require some welding and boring to fit Honda stem, CB450/500/550 is almost direct fit and doesn't need machining but personally I think they are a bit heavy for 350

Yes, the 71 has the early top clamp without the pinch bolts. The fork tube butts up to the bottom of the top clamp and with the fork cap poking through. Later front ends had the pinch bolt trees and the tubes that go through the top. You would need stock early type tubes or a complete later type front end.
 
Really? They still had the early style forks in 71? I was honestly unaware. I had a 71 with later style forks. Hmm... Learn something new every day.
