cb350 greeting from chicagoland

hello all, been a lurker for a couple of months here and finally decided to sign up after unloading some hard-earned cash at DCC for some parts to begin the first step to my cafe project!

picked up a '70 cb350 on the cheap off craigslist and have just been busy getting her running with new carbs and sealing leaks, as well as getting some of that lovely rust off.

here's how i picked her up:

at this point, i have some starter plans of getting some shorty mufflers (stock ones got a few chewed up holes), clip-ons with rearsets (couldn't help myself!), a 1.5 seater (for the lady), and a lot of other minor fixtures for the bike! she seems to be running great, picked her up with low mileage (7000!), and kicks up on the 3rd or so attempt. this is my first time messing with anything more mechanically complex than a bb gun so i'll be looking forward to this project to keep me company in the cold winters as well as getting well-acquainted with the search function on DTT ;D

it is a tremendous amount of fun to just stare at this bike and figure out what i want to do with her. i just placed an order for a cb200 tank (couldnt resist that center rubber tank guard) and once i get her riding steady via new tires, oil, and brakes, i'll start putting on the pretty parts and really get the caferacerization going.

Welcome to the site. The bike looks great and it should be a fun project.

Welcome to DTT! Great start so far, it would seem. I love the 350s. Terrific little bikes. Start a build thread so we can follow along!

haha truthfully a build thread is a bit intimidating at this point! but i'll be taking some photos and we'll see how i'm feeling once i'm through with this little project of mine ;D

Nah man... Start a thread! Its the best way to get help or questions asked. No pro (well a couple) builders here man. Lets see the mayhem!

Welcome friend! And, yeah, for sure start a build thread!

alright! you guys got me revved, i'll be posting up a build thread tonight 8)

should be a great way to get some helpful newbie hints and also probably a good place to suggest ideas first before i do something irreparably stupid.

better run down to the garage quick to double-check my thoughts....
