CB350 Speedo/Tach/Electronic Ignition

I am working on a couple CB350's that I just got, and have hit a snag. I want an all in one Speedo/Tach but have heard that the electronic units are not able to read engine speeds over 5000 rpm on a points system. These are the two units I am considering, http://www.motogadget.com/en/frameset.html and http://www.electrosport.com/street/speedometers-series-2700-2800.php

Now if the whole "can't read over 5000 rpm" thing is true, I'm assuming I'd have to install an electronic ignition. Can anybody explain the differences between the Bore-tech ignition (http://www.bore-tech.com/Vintage%20Motorcycle%20Ignitions.html), PVL Magneto used by Todd Henning (http://home.earthlink.net/~toddhenningracing/index.html), and the Newtronic ignition (http://www.motorcycle-ignition.com.au/motorcycle_ei_kit.htm)?

Is it possible to run the motogadget or acewell units reliably without the electronic ignition, or would I be better off with an electronic ignition and the Acewell unit? I've used the search function on several different forums and have been unable to get the answers I am looking for. I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out.

Just for kicks here are the bikes, got them for $375 (CAN$) each.

I want to turn one into a cafe racer, and the other into a dirt tracker. Speed is not my main concern. All I want is the most reliable engines possible.

You don't need electronic ignition just connect to the points wire or wrap sender wire around HT lead it only needs a trigger of some sort
