Cb350 starter question

Hey guys, hope you can help. Disassembled my starter and cleaned armature and freed a stuck carbon brush. When reassembled the starter whirred very strong but would not engage the flywheel. Only thing I can think of, I did loosen 2 of the 4 outside case bolts may have loosened something I should have. Any advice?

Did you take the side cover off and put the chain drive back on the sprocket? As well there are throw out ball bearings, which if you have had the starting cam apart need to be in the correct position

No that I want to admit this, but the first time I pulled the started on my first bike I had no idea it was driven off a chain to the starter clutch, I figured it was a direct engage gear. So I had the same problem you are. You have to pull the side cover and put the gear and chain back on the starter
