CB360 idle issues

Fixed the flipped around advancer and she runs again. My next issue is a new idle adjustment screw/cable. Mine was some how broken in half by the PO. Anyone have a carb they want to part out?

That could be a problem, although quite a few people here have either bought 'new' carbs or swapped to VM's.
Just a case of checking some builds and for sale section.
It's one of the few things I don't have any spares for
Several current carbs use a similar screw and cable though, Suzuki list it for Ozark 250 and Eiger/King Quad 400 ATV's

Thanks for the response PJ I'll keep my eyes out for the parts I need.

So I temporarily fixed my idle screw so that I can get the bike on the road. Here's my problem...I can get the bike to idle at 4k rpm then I adjust the idle screw down, nothing happens, so I adjust down some more, still nothing, then down some more then the bike drops from 4k rpm to dead. I can keep it going by reving it before it dies. I can also hold the throttle at a certain place and it will stay at around 2k. I adjust the screw back up, no change, adjust up some more, still nothing, adjust up some more, it jumps from me having to use the throttle to keep it alive back up to 4-5k rpm. There is no middle ground for it. It won't stay steady, untouched at anything below 4k.

Also I tried the air/fuel mixture screws. I started at 1.25 out from softly seated (seamed the run the best). Half a turn in (3/4 from softly seated) caused back firing and and so did half a turn out (1.75 from seated).

I decided to ride it around the block at the "dieing" idle stage and just rev it when I stop to keep it alive. I get half way and it just dies off. I have enough gas but when I kick it, it barley stays on at about 1200 rpm with throttle fully opened. I push it back to the garage. I check the gas, filters have gas flowing. I pull the plugs and the right plug is pictured below, the left was basically clean. I'm assuming WAY too rich if these are my plugs after 20 mins of running (plugs were new by the way).

I checked compression with the engine hot...120psi on the right and 130 on the left. I'm stumped.

You do have the choke off? (lever vertical, flap horizontal)
The connecting piece is connected between left and right carbs? (stainless steel 'U' piece clamped onto right carb choke shaft)
That plug is rich as a rich thing ;D
Your going to have to pull carbs off again and re-check EVERYTHING, especially float height (plus re-check timing)
At 4K it's about to transition to secondary main jet, sounds like pilot jet is still blocked
Have you checked carb sync yet?

So I guess I missed the pilot jets the other 2 times I pulled and cleaned my carbs (3rd time's the charm). Turns out one of the pilot jets was stupid clogged. I cleaned it this morning and checked the float height (again) which is still good. I'll put it back together tonight or tomorrow and check timing and let you know if that was my problem.

I haven't done carb sync yet 'cause I didn't want to do it with the engine at 4-5k. I'll sync it after I re-install everything.

Got the carbs all back together and put them on the bike. Fired her up and was able to attain the all elusive 1500-2k rpms.

I popped my newly acquired vacuum valves on and sync'd the carbs. I adjusted the idle mixture screws as per the manual and had her running great. The return to idle was very slow though, like it wouldn't drop down fast enough. I'd rev it up to like 5-6k then it'd take like 10-20 seconds to get back down to it's 1500 idle after I let off the throttle.

I let it run for a couple minutes and then the bike just died. Thought it was out of gas so I filled the tank up, checked for spark from my plugs (which were no longer fouled) and spark was good. It fired up a few times but I had it at full throttle and it wouldn't get above 1k rpms. Choke is off (lever is vertical). This thing really hates me! Any ideas on what happened to it?

Made sure battery was charged fully and started checking spark/timing etc. The bike runs much better with the left side spark plug wire unplugged. Like I get a normal idle and and it returns to idle as it should, etc. As soon as I plug that spark plug wire back in it starts doing all it's crazy stuff, like revving up to 5k rpms without me touching the throttle, etc. I tried plugging the two yellow wires into the blue contact point and the blue ones into the yellow point and used the spark plug wires on opposite chambers. Same thing, runs fine on the same coil/spark plug wire but as soon as I plug the other one it it goes crazy. Does this point to a faulty coil? Thoughts?

Also, found out that my start button wasn't working because of a dead solenoid...*sigh* I hope I get some time to ride it this summer. thanks for all your guys help so far.

Run the bike on one cylinder at a time, first right and then left. Does it run fine on one cylinder but not both?

Sounds more like a faulty battery or wiring.
Check voltage at coils with it running on whichever cylinder works.
How old is battery, has it been standing?
what size is it (Amp/hour)

Runs fine on right cylinder, won't run on left alone. With both in it does not run well.

After those tests I switched the points wires going to the coils (blue to yellow and yellow to blue) and plugged the right coil in the left cylinder and the left coil in the right one. Bike runs fine on left cylinder and won't run on right one alone. Again, with both plugged in it doesn't run well.

Battery is new 2 months ago. I'll check voltage when I get home tonight as well as amp/hour

If the problems switch when your coils do, then I would try to find some new coils. Just to make sure though... you switched the spark plugs wires at the same time you switch the blue and yellows, right?

That is correct.

Sounds like a coil problem, ignition was probably left on at some time and burned out coil.
Could also be points problem.
Post some pics
