cb360 not sparking?

I had carb issues, and from all the starting and cranking the throttle I think I may have flooded everything and ruined my spark plugs... attached is a pic of them. All black and gross. After a bit it just plain wouldn't fire. Starter was going, but nothing.

I removed, cleaned, and re-built my carbs, and replaced the spark plugs. Put everything back together.

But when I try to start up the bike the same thing is happening. Basically nothing. Lights are on, starter motor is going, engine is turning a little bit, but nothing.

Any ideas what could be going on? I thought maybe I flooded the engine or something, so I turned off the gas, removed the plugs, and pumped the kickstarter a dozen times, because I heard that can help things? But no dice.

I should mention too that I have a Pamco ignition. And the battery was freshly charged. I do notice that the headlight doesn't seem to be coming on now.... all other lights and horn do.

Sounds like you drained the battery trying to start it too much.

Clean the plugs up, charge the battery, and try again.

If you haven't already done so, check the engine compression and use a strobe light to test ignition timing. Bad compression and/or timing can mask a number of other potential issues and should always be the first things you eliminate.

The battery was freshly charged. I'll try it again having charged the battery overnight again.

As far as timing, I have a Pamco ignition. I wonder how I check the timing with that.

Same way as you do with points. You'll need a strobe light.
