Cb360 running video: how sounds the bike

Coast to Coast
Is this excessive valve noise? I lifted a tappet cover and there's plenty of oil getting to the top, just wondering if this sounds good, because I've never heard the thing running. I'll be readjusting valves again today and Seeing if there's a difference, but they should be properly set. https://vimeo.com/110697653

Sounds to me that it needs adjustment again. To large of a gap IMO. What did you set them at?

In the middle of spec as far as I can tell. Largest size within spec drags pretty hard, smallest within spec barely drags? I've never had anyone show me how to use feeler gauges, but I've read and watched enough videos to think I'm doing it right... Hopefully a little adjustment today will set it right

Make sure the cam chain adjuster is set, too. Also, the Motion Pro tappet feeler gauge is the way to go if you're not already using it. It makes it a lot easier to get it right confidently. One thing I figured out the hard way, is to set them cold. As in wait until the next day and adjust them before you start it up again.

Yea the right cylinder tolerances were a little wide. Funny you should mention motion pro, I can't get the clutch cable adjusted for shit. I've looked at every forum post I can find about it as well, even on Hinda twins... I'm beginning to think my clutch is flash rusted together.... Any advice on fixing that without taking off the cover again?

Mine hasn't been so easy to get the slack everyone says is needed. Most likely issue is the adjustment nut on the side of the shifter cover. It's a strange process that I had read over and over like 65 times to get what was going on. Also make sure you have the triangular plate with 3 bearings and the #10 bearing at the end of the rod in there. Truthfully, these things can be shifted easily without using the clutch at all. Is it slipping like the clutch is engaged?

I can't get the clutch to engage at all. Triangle bearing plate and #10 pain-in-balls bearing is in place and well greased. I'm gonna reset and try again

if you cant get it to engage then it is way to tigh, tcan you get any free play at the lever?

I guess disengage is more accurate. I idled it and popped it into first, and the rear wheel spins, but I can't get it to disengage to the point that if I press rear brake the bike won't die.

May have to go back into the clutch basket? Probably need to replace clutch springs anyways, I never got around to buying new ones when I put it back together

Negative. Feels like a handle-full of free play. Only when I adjust it all the way out on both the bar adjustment and engine side do I get any clutch feel right at the end of the squeeze.

I'm thinking maybe when I installed the clutch basket I over-tightened it. I had a VERY shitty torque wrench and even though it's been almost a year since then I remember thinking it seemed too tight.

Okay, I got it to where I had some free play, but clutch won't disengage no matter what I do, so I'm thinkin' it's that ^

there is no way to overtighten the clutch basket, well you could snap the bolts ::)
you first need to understand the correct adjust procedure and do that before you do anything else

The problem is the clutch cable in the manuals is different from the aftermarket cable that motionpro sells, but I'll keep at it.

Frustrating. Don't feel like I'm missing anything... Still got a handle full of only feeling spring tension, no clutch. I've tried adjusting the adjustment screw a couple different ways and taken the cover off to make sure it's seated properly three times now. Who wants to drive to Auburn and walk me through this like an idiot?

The steel ball is in the wrong place. Its supposed to be in the hole on the other side of the part in your left hand.

You the man. The parts fiche in that case is wrong, however. But I do see where a ball bearing has rubbed on the clutch actuating rod so you must be right
