so i was reading up in the manual and it says to quote "use compressed air to remove piston." i'm wondrin just what that means. do i need some special attachment to create some pressure in the caliper or what? this is probably a stupid question but any help would be appreciated!

Means to remove the bleeder valve, and with a nozzle attachment on your air hose, put it into the hole for the bleeder and push air in there SLOWLY!!!!! Be careful of flying pistons.

What bike is this? If the caliper is still on the brake line, you might be able to just press out the piston by applying the brake. Pump it out enough so you can grab it and pull it out. Just watch for brake fluid all over.

Sorry - missed CB500 in the title. Just split the caliper and pump the brakes. Or use the air, but do it on a bench with a folded towel on it. Put the caliper piston-down on the towel and hold the caliper down while SLOWLY applying air pressure through the bleeder valve opening.

thanks! yeah i have a fubar master cylinder so i needed to figure out a way to clean the piston without having a functional MC. nozzle attachment should work perfectly!
