CB500T tank on CB750?

Hello all,

So I started my first build, a 74 CB750. Not ready to spend crazy money on a tank, and not skilled enough to modify what I have now...I like the look of the CB500T tank however and was wondering if anyone had ever put one on a CB750? I would imagine it would be a bit shorter, but overall would it fit, and what might it look like? Thanks for the help.

Cheers

Well by transitive theory it should go on with a little work.

I've seen the 500T tank on a CB550 and a CB550 tank on a CB750 so....

Only way to know for sure is get the tank and see what happens. 500T tanks are always in demand so it will be easy to get rid of if its a pain to put on.

Tunnel on a 500t tank will be way narrower than the 750 due to the 750s triple backbone frame. You can make anything fit, but I don't think it'll be a simple job.

I put a 500T tank on my CB650. I used a shaping mallet to dish out the channel a bit. Then cut and rewelded the mounting posts forward on the frame and welded the rear mounting tab from my old tank to the new one. It wasn't hard but it did take some work and the proper machinery. One piece of advice though; fill the gas tank with water before you weld on it so it doesn't have the possibility of blowing up if you accidentally weld through it.
