CB550 carb float bowl

You know when you decide to clean out the float bowls and blow out the jets? Well what is the trick to making the float bowl gaskets fit back in their groove since they have expanded due to the gas?

They are a huge pain, especially when new, to get set in the groove and not flop out before you bolt it down. Mine have never expanded, but they refuse to sit still. Some small dabs of Hylomar in the corners helps hold them in place until you can bolt the bowl down.

Thanks Ringo I wil try that. I took my carbs apart and I guess the gas had soaked into the rubber gaskets causing them to be bigger than they were supposed to be. Did not wanna wait to order new gaskets since they are only a month old anyway. But thanks I let them dry out for a little while and they fit much better.

They shrink up enough overnight in order to work with. I usually stick them in the freezer as well to help things . I usually use small dabs of white grease
in the corners to help keep them set. Wipe off the excess before installing. No reason to replace those.
