CB550 jet kits

Hi,

Apologies if my question has already been answered (did the research and found nothing). So I'm gonna remove airbox from my CB550Four 1978 and will replace it with K&N air filters. Once done I'll need jet kits I guess. My question is: Are there any kits available on the market? I've checked Dynojet and no luck at all. CB550 is a popular machine so I think something should be there. Any help wil be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Wiz

Nope, too many variables so it's a DIY proposition
It's also real dependent on the exhaust your using.
'Baseline' is going to be around 32~40 pilot jet and 110~125 main jet, plus messing with float height/fuel level and needle clip position

I have a 77 CB550 with pods, and I found 110 mains to be too rich. At the moment I am running 100 mains with the needle in the middle and it runs really well. Stock exhaust. I got my jets from jetsrus.com, they were something like $2 each. You might want to buy a couple sets, like 105's or even some 110's if you want to, and just tinker around with it because yeah its right that there are a lot of variables.

As I said, it's dependent on the exhaust your using.
If you removed silencer and ran just headpipes, you may need as much as a 125 main jet

How about with a Mac 4-1 exhaust? I just picked up a 74 CB550K that had a Mac exhaust and Uni filters installed already when I bought it (still has stock 100 jets in it). I get that it's a case-per-case thing that'll take adjustment and fiddling, but any recommendation (maybe by experience?) just to get me close to start?

Yep, it's a per case thing.
I've been doing some 'research' and it seems Uni's flow about 2/3 the air of K&N (but filter better)
You can use smaller main jets than if you were using K&N
Cheap 'pods' will also need different jetting as they generally have lower flow than K&N
