Cb750 engine compatability

I am trying to figure out if cb750 engines are interchangable. Will another year fit into my 1978 cb750k frame? Or do i need to buy a 78 motor. Thanks

Dimensionally all 69-78 CB750 engines will be the same. There are slight differences between models like carbs, jetting, heads, etc, but they will all fit the same frame.

Later models have a longer output shaft so while they will fit the frame if you don't have the right rear wheel components the chain won't line up.
