CB750 Fork woes

Guys,

I'm pretty damn confused. I have a 1981 CB750K. I am tearing it down and see I have air forks. The FSM shows I shouldn't so I'm thinking someone did a swap. However I only have one front rotor like a K is supposed to.

Does anyone know if that air assist stuff can be removed? I think these are C forks, but not positive. Do all DOHC cb750's have the same fork length? My bike seems to be much higher in the front then others I've seen.

Here's a picture if it helps.

Thanks!

Dave,

As far as I've found the air set up can be removed, but you should add progressive springs in its place. A few companies make nice caps to replace the air assist fork caps.

I don't know which models had the air-fork option. Yours look just like what came on my '82 750k

nice bike
the air assist is handy for tuning and set up,i would suggest changing the oil and using them as is until you decide you need to upgrade
when that time comes a gold valve kit is the way to go and a fork brace
but are you a rider or a poser ?
if you are a rider the last thing you want to do is drop the front end because you will make it twitchy and lose cornering clearance
in the meantime the money and effort is better spent on some good rear shocks those on there now aren't suited for a girls moped

The '81 addendum to the CB750 factory service manual says K, F, and C models received air assisted front forks.
My C has a leading front axel. Both C and F have dual front disc brakes... Pretty sure yours is a stock K model's front end.
