CB750 Main Stand Help

Been Around the Block
My Main stand seems to come up too far and is resting against the chain. I can't ride like this.

The chain doesn't look loose. What usually keeps the main stand from coming up too far? Is there supposed to be a stopping mechanism?

Is it possible that my frame is bent? I did pull away with the kickstand down one day and caught it on a slow left turn.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Someone suggested that if I have aftermarket pipes there will be nothing there to stop the stand.

What can I rig up to the swingarm to stop the stand and look good at the same time?

we talking about side stand or centre stand?

This is a common problem when aftermarket exhausts are mounted on these bikes. Two solutions I've seen:

1) Install some type of tab to stop the stand early. My version of this is an unused exhaust bracket inserted into one bolts where the centerstand attaches. I bent it slightly to where it keep the stand as high as possible without hitting the chain.

2) Notch the centerstand to clear the chain. I like this solution because it's more elegant and allows the stand to retract fully. Just need to find an angle grinder/cutoff tool.

I've had a few bikes where the switch to an aftermarket exhaust meant that the chain rubbed on the center stand or kickstand end. Since the chain was always running in the direction the stand swung I figured it wouldn't catch anything - I ignored it in all cases with no grief.
