CB750 Throttle Cable issue

Hopefully someone can help me. I used the VIN number (K3) to order an OEM main throttle cable. When I got it, the length of the inner cable was too short in comparison to the damaged existing cable I had. The VIN number, and engine number don't match. This project bike was started by someone else, and I am assuming that since the serial numbers don't match, then the engine is from a different year bike.

1/ Is it possible to use the engine number to verify what throttle cable to order? (A big assumption is the carbs on it match the block, and could make this a mute point).

2/ Does anyone know where or how to get a custom throttle cable made, assuming I can't determine what throttle cable I need to order?

I'm in Toronto, so finding someone local is ideal!

Any help or direction is appreicated. Tnx.

the vins on the motors arent the same.... you may have just gotten the wrong cable or the cable thats on there is routed incorrectly. or if you have high bars this may be a problem also (higher then stock). motion pro makes the best OEM cables... they also make custom but if its custom i usually just go to the local motorcycle shop and they can make you some.

What bike is it ??(k3???) I have 40lbs of catalog ,all Canadian suppliers, motovan,mc distributing, winners circle ,thibault and crap (parts)canada! was an early or later engine swapped in?? search " service honda .com" for the required fiche and you might recognize the carb build for that model(s) and an ome # you can use to cross reference,,,,,if your stuck let me know
