CB750C Electrical issues when hot

Just bought an 81 CB750c with an annoying electrical (hopefully) issue. Bike will start up fine, once it warms up if you turn it off it will not turn over again. Hit the button and it tries but it doesn't start. If I wait 20 min or so for it to cool it will start right up again. Really annoying. Side note, I haven't owned it long enough to find out but the owner said the battery wasn't charging either so he just kept it on the charger every couple of days.

Rotor = 3.6 ohms cold (although it hit 4.1 a couple of times if I moved it off the brush marks)
Stator= 3.6 ohms on all the yellow wires.

It has an idle issue so by the time I was getting that sorted the engine died and I couldn't get it to turn over again (hot) to test the charge going to the battery.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds like your coils are overheating. Have you ridden the bike at higher rpm's lately? Bad coils tend to miss at high rpm's.

Appreciate the quick replies. Coils were on my radar, I did a bit of reading after i posted and the symptoms seem to point towards this. I'm still researching but do you know of a way to test them to find out?

check out the SOHC forum all of the test procedures are there. Along with a downloadable manual.
