Hi,

I'm Jon and I'm from Canada

I spend alot of time on SOHC4 (which is currently down) but from time to time I end up here looking for inspiration, so i thought i'd share my project with you.

I picked up my CB many years ago and it sat and rotted a bit in my yard till last may (2012) when i crashed my car and decided cars were stupid, and bikes were awesome.

So I didn't take any pics of it when i first got it, but shortly after making it rideable it looked something like this...

then

So I rode it like that without serious variation till December 19th then I accidentally rode it home for Christmas and she was stranded up north till last week. In the mean time i've been making a plan of attack.

Motor Build

Frame adjustment (Mono-Shock)

Custom Swingarm

Billet Tees

Rear Sets

Some Modern Parts, etc...

Anyways ideally I'm building a streetfighter, with some custom goodies and i really want to be done in April...

I have some zx-6 stuff

And and some CBR stuff

And a machine shop, and welder, and a bit of engineering/ fabriction skills. And some CAD skill and Ideas

So that's my intro, feel free to ask questions, hopefully engine will be apart tonight and i'll have a better idea what i'm dealing with rebuild-wise.

As she sits.

Whats that tacho? Are you going to monoshock the original swingarm or fabricate another?

Will be interesting to keep an eye on this

;)

I get that question often, it's not real, I just CADded up something that I think would look/work nice. Either I'll build it with an electronic tach and a bike speedo, or microcontroller and LCD/LED digits at the bottom.

Monoshock is probably going to be on a custom swingarm, a little longer and a dropped mount for the shock.

I don't know if i'd trust the stocker with the added torque.

So I haven't posted here in a while, been busy with school and whatnot. Also got some bike work done...

I got a rear wheel

Did some swingarm work

And a front wheel and tires. A CB 750 does fit in a toyota matrix, just in case you were wondering. My GF's car.

And the finished-ish frame as it sits. I didnt like the lower shock mount so it was replaced with a steel version to lower it a bit and give me some peace of mind.

Unfortunately my pistons seem to be not here yet, as well as the rest of my motor parts :(. So my Sunday deadline will probably come and go, but maybe next week will be better...

The rear shock you are using is from a CBR which has a prolink set up. The shock acts through a system of levers (the triangle between the shock swing arm and frame, therefore the shock wont work as intended as you have it fitted in a direct action. That is unless you intend to have it revalved & sprung to suit.

this might be true. I'm using an 05 CBR600RR shock, but I will say the factory 600lb spring is awful stiff. I ran linkage on my build using pure guestimation, and ended up needing to replace the spring with a 400lb spring that's still too stiff. I'm thinking of dropping down to 250 at this point.
