Hey guys, been hangin around this site for a few months now, but only just joined. I love looking through the project journal and seeing what people can put together, never seems to get boring. Anyways, I am thinking of getting my M1 if I can find cheap insurance. I will end up getting it either way, but if I can find someone who would insure someone whos 16 I would go for it sooner. I was planning on just putting my car on the road this summer, but I cant afford that just yet, and I need to get the hell on the road man. I live in Toronto, and ive seen there are quite a few guys from around here on the site as well. So does anyone know of any cheap insurance company's who would insure someone this young? I dont plan on getting some huge CC bike, I was looking around and I could pick a 1975 CB360T up for cheap so I might just go for that. Eventually that little 360cc is comming out and being replaced with something a little bigger though ;) Thanks in advance everyone! ;D

Dairyland insurance has been the cheapest thing I have ever found. I paid about 50 bucks a year for a few levels above PA state minimum insurance for 2 bikes. Not comprehensive of course, but certainly covered any possible liability in any regard.

Also as a side note the first bike I insured was a 76 cb360t, that alone cost me about 35 dollars a year. I was 22 when I bought the bike.

Working for the insurance industry i'll tell you first hand, since the variable for teen insurance ranges so widely in the way they are form your best bet is just to shop around. For me its $90/yr with progressive, but with the same coverage from Geico is almost $300/yr. Unlike with cars that have a pretty set standard on how the formulas are derived for figuring out insurance premiums there isn't a yet set standard for motorcycle insurance.

Thanks guys! I am SOOOO happy to hear how cheap it is! But sadly these company's aren't in Canada, at least I dont think they are :s I checked there websites out and I think geico is the only one in canada so I will give em a call right now. Thanks again! ;D

Oh man, I have called SOOO many company's about car insurance. I have been quoted at 12 grand on a 1994 oldmobile Achievea S 4 door 4 cylinder. And then I have been told 5 grand. Ive even been told it will cost more to insure the Oldsmobile then my 1979 Trans am SE! :o HOW DOES THAT WORK!!?!?!?!

wow thats insanely high either way, i know almost all insurance companies will offer a discount for an approved drivers saftey course. Alot of times up to a 10% discount. But trust me your not the first with such a wide variety of premium qoutes like that. I look at them all nite at work since i work with geico and deal with the billing.
