Cj360 sucking power out of battery

renslow

Been Around the Block
So this is a new issue that just came up. I've been riding the bike just fine for a couple weeks before it started raining here in Oregon and now my bike wont start up after being in storage.
Prior to this when the bike was running i havent had any problems getting the bike to start so this is why i'm sitting here confused
My poor little twin needs some help.

I charged the battery over night so i know that can't be the issue. So with the ignition on with the coils set to run i get about 3-5v on my multimeter. I try and kick it over and nothing happens.

When i turn the coils off the battery sits back at 10.5v.

What could be sucking all the power out of my battery?!

I noticed this when i went to double check the timing on the points. When i would check the left point timing, when it reached 'LF' the test light flashed but it was really dim. When it crossed 'F' for the right cylinder/points it lit up how it should.

I installed new points/condenser/coils a couple months ago so i know its not old age'd parts. Any ideas on this mess?

It's the battery.
10.5 volts after charging is a bad battery you need to be at 12.5.
Replace the battery.

For testing get some jumper cables and hook your car battery to the bike and see if it will run then.

Had the exact same thing, showed 11V, turned on the ignition power (which sends power to the coils only on my bike, thats just how I have it wired) and dropped to 1.5V. New battery and all is good.. 12.5V with the battery disconnected, 12.1 hooked up with the ignition turned on..
