Been Around the Block
Hey so the trend that ive been seeing when replacing the carbs on the older 350/360's, is to go with the mikuni 28mm; and from what i hear the roundsides are the item of choice..... but correct me if im wrong that mikuni doesnt appear to be selling the Vm28 roundsides...yeah? I may be missing something but browsing around, some people mentioned that the flat-sides contact the frame/tank and i want peoples opinions on whether these really fit well on the 350/360's? Finally, are there any mods i will need to do to the carbs to allow me to reuse the original throttle cable, or am i looking at replacing that sucker as well? cheers cheers

Interesting question. You want to know what mods need to be made to the BRAKE cable to fit flatslides!

It's going to be one of those weeks.

OK so we got past that little hurdle. Now to teh question. Flatslides are typically quite tall but my experience is putting them on two strokes where the top is never a problem, so I suggest you check the dimensions on say SUDCO's site.

There is not a very deep pool of knowledge with that conversion to dip into but they are carbs and the principles are the same. Some flats have cast in needle jets and that's problematic, so make sure they come with replaceable needle jets.

Flats generally flow better than round slides and have better pickup, but I think I'd grab a cheap pair of VM28s off an RD350 or 400 and work from there. They even have the right type of needle jets fitted.

Hello,
New guy here,
In regards to the Mikuni vm 28 round slides, I recently purchased a pair on eBay for $167.00. Just waiting on the second to arrive
