Cl160 stalls as soon as it's put in gear

Decided to take the old girl out again after a couple of months of not riding. I cleaned out the carbs and went to buy a new battery. The bike started right up. But as soon as I put it in gear it stalls. What gives?

Does it want to lurch forward then stall? Or does it just die like the killswitch has been hit?


If it's the first it's probably stuck / gummed up clutch plates.


Second one? Does it have a clutch / sidestand switch? If so, these might be defective.

What are some tricks to getting it unstuck?

Got a centre stand? Start the bike on the stand, click it into gear, rev it a bit with the clutch in and apply the rear brake.
