Been Around the Block
Well this is like the 2nd time i have to open the cases because of the same reason,
The kickstart ratchet guide thingy, this:

The first time i thought, well its an old engine so no biggie, i found a NOS one on ebay
And i change it like 5 months ago, today while checking the pistons before assymbly i turn the crank and i hear the ratchet engagin when it shouldnt be, at first i thought it might be the little spring but upon inspection the guide in the "u" part was wider and had cracks in the bottom, is this part flawed like this? It was nos with less tha 5 months of usage, i can buy another one but i dont want to replace it again in 5 months, have any one had the sane problem and come up with a solution? I thought maybe weld in a reinforcement or something any ideas?

Sorry for my grammer im tired and im typing from an iphone!

Possible you're installing it wrong?
I havent heard of that being an issue...

How hard are you kicking ? ;D

im sure it was installed propperly i checked the movement when i installed it,

maybe i got an iron foot LOL, but still i dunno its just weird

It is odd to see it go out twice...
WHen you kick are you "kicking" it or are you just pushing hard enough to turn the engine over.
Its not a big thumper, you shouldn't ever "kick" it, you should put your foot on the kicker and push it through its full range of motion in a controlled manner.

The only reason i say this is a friend of mine has been riding motocross his whole life and he got on my 125 the other day and kicked the living shit out of it for absolutely no reason. He just didnt know that wasnt the right way to do it hah, he held his foot about 3 inches above the kickstart lever and then with all his strength slammed into the kicker lever. This is completely and utterly unnecessary! Even with a big thumper, you should use your weight to push through the motion, not "kick". It puts a whole lot of shock force on those 40 yr old internal parts.

wow, poor bike! no i never actually kick it, i do it like you described, i put my foot on top and then push it down with force, i was thinking maybe the spring pushing the ratchet away from the gear is going out and the whole "push back force" is in the guide, maybe i can use a harder spring?

Yeah i about slapped him.
Not that i can talk, I tried to bunny hop it yesterday and broke the footpeg off :o

Anyway,
maybe spend 20 bucks on ebay and replace the whole mechanism? Eliminate the variables in your stock setup?

i have the front pegs if you need them for a 350 hehehe!

if i could find a NOS one i would but i all there is are used ones with bad pictures, however i found a NOS guide for 8 bucks and a NOS shaft for 29, the one i had the splines were bad also, so im looking for a kick lever now, still the spring ill see if i can find one at the hardware store that is the same dimensions but with a bit more of resistance
