CL360 exhaust question

Been Around the Block
So I live in a rather large city (Phoenix, AZ) and being noticed by other drivers is a top priority for me. Now, recently in my area they have eliminated the need to Emissions testing for motorcycles. So (sorry atmosphere) but I am wondering if running no mufflers would be a good idea? And what kind of re-jetting would I need to do, if any (I'm currently running 125 main jets, with uni pod filters)

Running open pipes is being a dick. Being a dick does not make you safer.

I like for a motorcycle to have a voice, but all of us who ride are ambassadors of our sport.

Don't be one of those dicks who runs open pipes. It hurts us all.

Open pipes are for the race track only. If you really want a louder sound, but are adult enough to realize that straight pipes make you an ass you can remove the stock mufflers and replace them with internal baffles. Plenty if sound, but tame enough that the police/your neighbors/other riders/pedestrians/etc won't want your head.

Another post where ADC and I agree completely 8)

To add to his insight, open pipes will lower the performance of the CB/CL engine. They do not run well unless they have reasonable back pressure and long pipes, at least past the rear axle. It has to do with scavenging the exhaust. You cannot jet a stock 360 for open pipes and have it run well across the board....and the performance will be less all around...

So don't be a dick.

don't compromise performance.

And emissions testing on a CB/CL 360 is a bit of a waste, as except that is has a muffler, there are no emissions devices on the bike. No PCV, no Exhaust recirculation....Old Points and carburetor....

I wasn't planning on it taking the mufflers off I was just curious as to what the repercussions would be (besides the obvious being a dick). And that's good news, but is there any way to make the stock 360 mufflers "louder" I looked at it and it seems the baffles are welded in. I'm still, not too familiar with the bike so excuse my ignorance (that is why I am here after all, to learn from those who know better than I)

If you were looking to go with straight pipes for aesthetic reasons, you could probably just drop some baffles in, and add a retaining screws. This site carries all sorts and sizes.

if your looking to get different mufflers that look like you have straight though pipes (almost)

i use these ones. i run one on the ace 125 and people turn around to see what it is, but the muffler takes that crack out of the exhaust note you get running no muffler. loud but not obnoxious . they have a baffle but no sound insulation.
heres the same one on ebay
