CL450 Bent Shift Shaft Removal

I'm about ready to split open my engine cases but this shift shaft won't come out due to it's gnarly condition. Looks like the end has been welded on and will never be straight. Should I just leave it alone, split the cases and keep it as is? Or should I just cut it, split the cases, and get a new shaft?

Hack saw that thing off, grind the cut edge so it will go through.

Then either eBay or local junk yard for a replacement trust me, much easier. Been there done that.

Depending on what year yours is, I may have your part. I got a POS 72 CB450 K5 that I am going to start parting out the good bit's from the engine.

Oh cool! My year is a 69, I'm not sure if the K5 part you have will work. Actually, I just was looking up serial numbers and my bikes VIN plate says it was manufactured in 12/69, but the serial begins CL450-400... so I think it is a 1970 model? Anyway, let me know about the part. Thanks

My engine serial # is CB450E-50183.
Hondapartsnation.com shows it as #1 on the micro fische...

I was going to ask $20 + shipping but mine has a little rust on the flat arm where it meets the round shaft but it cleaned up well on the wire wheel, minor pitting at the pawl window.
So hows $15 plus shipping sound? can't imagine it would be more that $25 total...
