Clutch Cable Question

Is the clutch cable supposed to just sit on top of the side cover like this or should it be secure somehow? Just doesn't seem natural to be resting there, but maybe im wrong.

It does just sit there. There should be some slight tension on the clutch cable, pulling the outer sheath snug to the side cover.
