Clutch stuck in neutral.

Hi guys,
got a problem. I was installing the front sprocket cover the other day and it appears that my clutch pin is stuck in neutral. When the cover is screwed tightly I just can't press the clutch lever. When I loosen it up a bit, if pressed, just the cover moves. So I guess the pin or clutch plates are somehow stuck.

The bike has not been running for just 5 months, so I guess clutch plates shouldn't be stuck in such short period of time.


Anyone with the same problem? Any help?
This is my first bike and first rebuild, so I'm thankful for any suggestions and guesses :]

Is the ball bearing in the hole for the clutch mechanism?

Yeah, it's there. And pin pushing mechanism seems to work ok.

It seems, that it's stuck in neutral as the bike can shift and roll easily. It hasn't been running for 5 months now, but before everything was ok.

It's obvious from your pic that the mechanism isn't assembled properly.
Pull the bit the cable attaches to completely out and fit everything back in lined up, loosen off the adjuster on the outside of cover and figure out how it works (it ain't rocket science)

It's not a problem I have experienced, and I sometimes work on bikes that have been stood forever.

I guess you will have to pull the clutch cover and see what is happening that end !

No need to pull clutch cover, its the operating mechanism in left cover at fault

First, need make/model and a parts diagram showing the clutch rod - is it a single rod? Two piece with a ball bearing in the middle?

Can you pull the clutch rod out of the engine? Is it seized? Should just slide out like butter.

When you place the engine cover on the case, can you pop it on all the way without any pressure? I.e. will it sit flush against the engine case without being tightened?

When the bike is in gear (assuming you can pop it into 1st) does the back wheel turn freely as though the clutch is disengaged or does it turn the engine?

After playing with the tension of a cable and rolling it for about 10 meters in the garage, it unstuck and now shifts like it should. So crazypj was right on loosening the adjuster. Thanks!
