Cockpit de-clutter

Just a quick question ...
How many of you have got rid of the idiot lights/non-essential switches/indicators etc

I just want a speedo and basic lights ...nice clean look

This is mine. Speedo, Turn indicator and Neutral light. I tried going without a turn indicator but I kept leaving them on. Only problem I have with this setup is that the trip meter reset knob tends to block my view of the neutral light.

Yep, even cleaner. That one in my pic was given to me and it is hard to turn down free.

I highly recommend those three things as a minimum.

If you want to go without a light for the turn signals you could always get a flasher with a buzzer, they're kind of annoying but at least you'll have a warning you left them on.

I got this off of a Yamaha, simple with speedo/turn/neutral/bright and not very big.
Going to put a toggle switch for the ignition between the triple & Speedo in the round area.

I binned all the OEM instruments, and the mount and started again. Small 60mm clocks fixed on a polished stainless mounting, with just 2 idiot lights. Green for neutral, and blue for high beam. They are very bright LED's. In fact I went a stage further, and created my own top yoke too....

I'm doing this right now as you can see in my build thread...the stock MC is only on there so I could move it.. new bates headlight on order...hardest thing is the wiring... note the speedo has all the lights you need.

This is an XJ650 '81 - tach is 5:1 and speedo is 2240rpm at 60mph

* Edit the mounting is also not that simple - you'll find a disclaimer on all speedo's and tachs that tell you to mount these on some kind of vibration dampener - i.e. rubber.. this makes them difficult to get rigid on the single mounting hole. Some folks have fabricated fancy new brackets for this but I just put together some bolt/washer/split washer assembly that seems to work - we'll see what happens when I get it back on the road.
