alright, ive got a 72 cb450, yestarday i was cutting tabs off the frame and since im not using the centerstand i cut the pinch bolts off for the pivot, problem is that the pivot held the rear brake lever too and i didnt realize it till today since i took the frame apart so long ago. so basically im turning to you guys to see if you may have a creative idea to rig the rear brake up on a 72 cb450, i very rarely use the rear brake but it would be nice to have a functioning one for hills and such. help me out fellas.

going bobber....so no rear sets. the only thing i can think of is to make two sheet metal brackets to weld to the frame where the pinch bolt brackets were then make a pivot out of stock and use big washers with cotter pins to keep it in place....thats all ive got.

you're pretty much in the category of replacing what you cut off then, as long as you've got a welder and grinder, you'll be ok

if you get a welder, you can rig up something with an old front brake cable

Motobits uses a clutch cable for their cb160 rearsets. You can check their site for how it's rigged up.

isnt it a drum brake? can you just make a rear set lever that runs to the drum and then lock the drum in place with antoher?

i think forward controls on bobbers are the way to go, run an old parking brake cable from a car for the linkage or a long rod. Weld the tabs to the fram and rock out. Just need about 15 bucks in parts and 150-152 hrs lab. or less if your quicker than me.

Sling a disc back there and link it with the front brake...both on one lever. Linked brakes work fine for pretty much any non-race/sport bike. If you're just cruising around town you'd be money ahead. All you need in a Wilwood proportioning valve to adjust how much pressure goes to the rear and you're golden.
