Cuttin' Up and Moddin' A Tank

Hey fellas,
So I have a stock tank, and I don't think it looks nearly as cool as all of yours so I'm looking for suggestions and advice on the best way and or experiences in changing the profile of my tank, ie the indents for the knees. It seems so bulky. Sorry I'm still pretty green at this cafe thing....
Thanks.

Knee dent are simple if you got a good tank and a good dead blow hammer you just gotta go eazy and keep both sides even and hammer the indents in to it. a unlined and bondo free tank helps

Thanks man,
Yea I was checkin' out the DCC TV, where they literally cut out the sides of the tank, then hand formed some sheet metal and welded it back on, with the curvature of the tank inverted. It looked, or was I guess a professional job. I think I could actually pull it off but It's always best to fish for advice before you cut into a gas tank, I've found. The hammer and bondo thing is pretty creative, but a bit to ghetto for me anyway.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable in this area (or any other area, come to think of it) but wouldn't this be a simple procedure to follow - in principle at least (I just thought of it):

1) Draw a pattern on the tank where you wand the knee recesses to be. Both sides MUST be the same in design and position on the tank
2) Very carefully cut the two patches out (or have a professional do this)
3) Fit/weld the patches on the opposite hole, i.e. the patch cut out of the right hand side to be welded onto the left hand side hole. Some shaping may be required.

...Just thinking out loud here...

I'd start off with a different tank. What does the backbone of the frame look like?

I wouldn't go there in a pink fit. Knee dents are so played out and add zero functionality. If you don't like the shape of the tank because it looks like a big blob, use color or stripes to visually change it. Not as manly men as bashing and welding but way more effective.
