CX500 Tracker

Acquired this bike February 2012 - Road it through last year unmodified. Winter has been too busy for me to work on a project bike, but now is the time. Still intending to ride it through this season, so mods I do between now and the end of summer will need to be quick and conducive to that purpose.

Some sketching done. Working on further concepting/building a seat pan this week. Just got some bars ordered. Once the seat pan is done I have plans to have a friend do the leather work.

Tested out some clubmans/clipons for a brief stint; Not a fan.

First Concept:

What's required to get this look; easy to hard:
-Bars ($30)
-Bar End Mirrors ($40)
-Front Suspension Rubber Baffles ($75)
-Headlight & Clamps ($150)
-Signals & tail ($150)
-Rear Suspension ($200)
-Front & Rear Fenders ($150)
-Seat ($250)
-Airbox removal, pods, exhaust, rejetting (~$500)
-Wiring, Electronics Relocation ($100)
-Paint
-Wheel Conversion to Spoked ($300)

Still needs to be tweaked a bit; Need maybe another inch out of the front or raised rear suspension to get more aggressive stance. Also, I am considering a seat that is a bit more conducive to riding 2 up. Color scheme still completely up in the air.

I wish I had your Photoshop skills - make my life a lot simpler when trying to decide colour schemes etc.!

Maybe a little higher at the back end ? Also kick the meggas up a tad ?

I personally am no a fan of the vast open spaces behind the carbs. On my Tracker I'm using a pair of racing # plates.

I guess your costings are in US dollars ? Most of the prices are way over what we would expect pay in the UK - ex. headlamp and clamps $90.

It's amazing just how well the CX [ "Plasic Maggot" in the UK ] responds to different styles - Cafe Racer, Bobber, etc.

Here's production Harley concept I did a while back:

Yeah I am going to bump the back end up a bit; probably experiment with a mono shock conversion too. I was set on having a little bit lower stance since the bike feels so top-heavy, but I also don't care to sacrifice the look.

I like the open look, though maybe the mono will take it up. I think it ads a nice minimalist look to the bike... If Id do anything with it I guess I'd convert it to storage space and throw a side plate over it.

Yeah the cost is USD, and its all estimations based on past experience... Clamps will run 35 plus shipping, then the rest for a decent headlight not all banged up... These prices might even error on the side of conservative. Exhaust price may be high or low depending on what I do with it exactly.

That's the first time I've heard that one, but I have heard it called the "shit pump"

Did you use photoshop for that mock-up picture? Looks awesome!

Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. Cool sketching program. Using a Wacom Cintiq.

I'm working on another concept right now, mono-shock.
