Dam A-Hole Bike Cop

So i'm waiting at a stop light and a bike cop is turning onto the road alongside me. He pulls next to me and begins to scold me about the placement of my inspection sticker. I have the sticker on a chrome plate mounted to the front engine mount. Since I put new stainless exhaust this year , the pipes now cover the plate a little. My inspection is up in September anyway so I was planing on moving it then. What pisses me off is that he yelled "get it moved" lick an ass and drove off. He could of said "hey I see that your inspection is up next month can you move it to a more visible area of your bike" I wanted to kick his bike over and ask him if he could see my inspection sticker form the ground and speed off....(I wouldn't have the balls to do that) I even gave him a nod before his assholiness started.
 
Better than getting stuck with the asshole writing you a ticket, good on ya for keeping your cool.
 
Really man? Would you have preferred he made you pull over and wrote you a ticket? The guy is doing his job.

He doesn't have to nice to you and honestly, didn't sound like a dick according to your story. Your sticker was in the wrong place, he told you to move it. So move it and get over it instead gettIng your panties in a twist and daydreaming about physical violence against a cop just because he didn't treat you like a princess.

I didn't break a law. He just didn't see the sticker before he pulled over. Respect is a two way street. I have no problem with cops and I respect what they do. It doesn't take much to be courteous. I was courteous and said yes sir.
 
And he told you to fix the issue and left. Did you want a hug too? I agree that the police should be respectful of the people who they ultimate work for, but I'm having a difficult time seeing how this cop did anything that warranted a reaction other than, "ok I'll move it". The guy isn't your friend. Could he have been nIcer, I guess.

Are you pleasant and respectful to everyone that you cross paths with all the time? I doubt it.

My only point is that the kicking him off his bike bit is way over the top.

Mike, whats with the cop love? 99.9% of the time, if you encounter a cop, they are assholes. Doesn't matter if you are law abiding or not, they are crass power-tripping d-bags. Maybe if cops took the time to give as much respect as they demand from those who pay for their services, we'd all be a bit better off....but I'll have to agree that "the man" needs to tone down the 'tude and get over the power trip and treat other folks with some dignity. Its amazing how much simpler and smoother all transactions can go with some decent common courtesy. I've certainly experienced far worse from a bike cop...one even bothered to pull me over for removing my hands from the handlebars before coming to a stop (was adjusting my gloves)...then proceeded to have me shut off my bike, and rant about how my plate wasn't legal (left axle mounted) at which point i was happy to remind him of the state requirements--which he didn't like and rode away with his panties in a bunch--i just wish i could have pissed in his wheaties. There is no defending a public SERVANT that serves with his ego and gun rather than compassion and respect.

I understand frustration towards police who act like the Gestapo. Just saying that this guy wasn't that bad. He was on a bike too, so probably more concerned with paying attention to ahole drivers than being overly friendly. He just said his peace and split. Could've been a good deal worse. That's all.
 
I just ignore them when they go into lecture mode. If they want to ticket or arrest me for a valid reason, fine. But I am not going to sit there and be lectured about ANYTHING by some 20-something little-dick with a chip on his shoulder. Good cops don't bother people for no reason. Yelling at you about a motherfucking sticker is not a valid reason.

It's not ridiculous. Police and common citizens should not be crossing paths. The way that police and citizens cross paths are:

The citizen is an asshole
The cop is an asshole

So if you're not an asshole there's a good chance that 99.9% of the time the cops you deal with are the assholes.

It's not that 99.9% of cops are assholes. It's that the percentage that aren't assholes, you won't ever talk to because they're not going out of their way to fuck with people.
 
To the OP: Sorry again for coming across as if I was attacking you personally. Didn't mean to. And now, I'm sorry for derailing a thread you started.

Meh, no need to apologize. I think you have valid reasons for your opinions. And probably there's at least a few people who think the cops are the assholes when it's them. But I'll never admit it! ;)
 
Yeah, cop could have probably been a little nicer, but being on a bike and all kinda accelerates the need for getting to the point and carrying on. No biggie. Now a short while back I got nicked by a state trooper for going in excess of 95 in a 65. Stupid me? Yes. Fun? Hell yeah! He gave me a warning, advised I don't get off my bike since th shoulder was soft and he didn't want it to tip, then showed me the rule regarding tag placement (mine was vertical) and spent the next 10 minutes talking about old bikes and "back in the day." Then before he said scram, he wasn't even gonna hand me a written warning but asked if I was on my way to work. I said yes, I was running late. So he said I could get some use out pf the warning as a excuse, but it was otherwise worthless... so then he said have fun and took off. Nicest cop ever.
 
That's what happens when two basically good guys meet in the world. Things go smoothly and even if it doesn't totally work out for you, at least you got treated like a human being. I think if people are a good judge of character, when they meet up with someone, even if they start with a chip on their shoulder it will subside.

Problem is that a lot of the cops I've met up with don't see me as just another guy like them. Either they have me pegged wrong or they have themselves pegged wrong. But either way, things don't go well. I expect to be treated a certain way no matter who the other party is, and if not, I'm going to get pissed.

The ticket you would of got, would have sucked.... You're lucky!
