Debate SR500 vs XS650

I read from one of the designers that the XS isnt in fact a horex copy, but rather its more of a car engine copy. A toyota I think (not kidding). They basically took half a car engine, scaled it down, and made it air cooled, added gearbox ect.


This is as reliable as some random facts posted online can be.
 
I have, and I just did again. Other then it being an OHC 360deg twin Im not seeing it. Sure the principles are the same, but this whole XS650-Horex thing just seems like more of the old "those filthy little japs couldnt build something on their own" bullshit thats been going on since before WW2. Not saying that you have that attitude swivel, but its pretty pervasive on the net. Being an XS junkie myself, I prefer to think that my bike is a little more origional then some rip off. I mean, other then the fact that it really wants to look british.
