Been Around the Block
So, I'm having trouble with my right cylinder firing. It won't fire at rpm below 1700-2000, but once I get above these numbers it starts to fire and works fine. I suspect the points for the right side are worn out and just need to be replaced. Any ideas?

What does the plug look like?

This could be carbs way out of synch, it could be a clogged idle jet, could be stuck float, could be points, could be coil voltage, could be a bad ground in the ignition circuit...
Is this repeatable? Are there any circumstances that this doesn't happen?
Accurate diagnosis via internet is virtually impossible, as we can never have enough contextual information.
(doesn't mean we aren't willing to try, however)

While each system is fairly simple, they ways they interact and affect each other can be complex.

In general, the best approach I've found is to patiently go through each system and assure that it is as correct as you can make it.
I suggest Electrical first, as it is fairly simple to meter out. (although bad grounds and failing coils can lead to a lot of hair loss)
Compression test to rule out valve/ring issues
Go through the carbs and get them so clean you could eat off of any surface you choose.
Check ignition timing carefully, probably replace condenser(s) as a safety.

Any order is fine, as in the end it will likely be the last place you check...

Carbs are spotless, and I tested the ignition coils last week. Also, the spark plug is brand new. I actually took the spark plug out and held it against the engine and saw that there was no spark at low rpm, but it started to spark at higher rpm. I confirmed this with a timing light.

The contact points for the right cylinder seem slightly uneven, but they are clean...

Is there a test for the condenser that I should be aware of? There is only one condenser so wouldn't the other cylinder have problems also if the condenser was bad?

If the bike is a Honda twin, you need a new battery.

Also, check your ignition timing just to be sure.

Now we're getting somewhere!

So it certainly seems like it's a spark issue. If you are sure the wiring is solid, then yes, the points are suspect.
The ignition timing is also suspect as is the condenser. (while running, how much spark are you seeing at the points?)
Have you done a compression test to make sure you don't have a valve issue?
(I didn't see you rule that out yet)

Give us more information that you think we need, and you'll get much better advice.

Brand new or not, its still likely the battery. Test it. If its below 13v at idle you'll never get the Honda to run right.

try swapping coils to see if the problem moves with the coil or stays with the points.
Swap plugs as well for the same reason

Both coils tested out the same. I've swapped spark plugs with no change.

However, I have not done a compression test just yet. I'll do that and check the battery for sure.

Look for an intake leak. Spray carb cleaner around the carb connections while idling and see it all of a sudden that cylinder starts firing.

How would that explain not getting a spark? Shouldn't I get a spark regardless?

Compression tested out okay and my battery is running at 11.85volts

If your battery is under 12v after charging or a good long ride, its bad. But you already know your reg is bad, so... Sounds like its time to replace both and start over.

I missed your post about no spark.

11.85 V is a dead battery. Voltage after charging should be at least 12.6V.
