do I NEED braided brake lines?

so I am looking at sling shot cycles clip on brake lines, and I would like to have the braided lines but I am not sure I want to spend the extra money on them. I understand they dont give like the rubber ones do, and it shold be a firmer pressure on the brakes, no "spongey" feeling. but if I am not racing on a track do I really need that? am I going to notice a difference? This bike is a project, I have never riden it, I swapped out the master clyinder already and I rebuilt my caliper. I just want to know if its worth it. any thoughts?
 
If the brake lines you have are old, they're going to need replacing anyway. Braided lines are the way to go for many reasons beyond performance. They are usually made to order from bulk materials meaning there is no limit as to color, length, bends, ends, etc. Considering most people are modding bikes on this forum, I can't think of a better way to go for fit, finish and the performance gains. It's not like they're expensive and they are your brakes we're talking about!
 
I'd go for the upgrade. Its worth the 50 or 60 bucks more than original rubber lines just for the added security and performance.
 
You don't NEED them but you WANT them ;)
If lines are more than 4 yrs old they should be changed (although very few people change brake lines, even when they are cracking up ::) )
You should be able to get a custom line for way less than $50~$60.00
I would get a one piece line and a banjo bolt switch off eBay (you need 10x1.25 for stock master cyl, if stock bolt fits your replacement it is same thread)
Do a search for brake lines on SOHC4.net, I think there is someone making them (I think they advertised here as well at one time?)

I have those lines on all my bikes.
they are DOT.....most people selling them are not....so watch that


On a side note is the "new" masters the right size/ratio for the calipers?
lots of people have swapped for modern masters and not checked the size and made the brakes much much worse trying to improve things

the info on here was super helpful and this mc has been tested on annother cb360 so its working
