Two easily restorable bikes and one that started off as a scrap heap...I appreciate the work that goes in to bringing something back from the garve, I just wish kanticoy had spent a little more time on the final finish. Anyhoo...My vote is in.

If it helps, everything is refinished, it’s just refinished to maintain the patina. 2k clear on the tank, all of the frame and wheels are powder coated, etc.

This bike was indeed a scrap heap. Literally bought it off of a scrap trailer full of abandoned junk at barbers. The story goes, I traded a set of tires for a locked up and neglected DR500 several years ago from CycleFreak73 and turned it into a dual sport mongrel over 3 different versions. At the end of the day I had a titled DR500 frame since I swapped the original motor into a later model DR650 frame sitting in the shop. I have had a dream of building a bobber around a pair of leading link forks I have had in the rafters from buying them at a swap meet about 7 years ago and I figured this titled DR frame was the perfect candidate. The heavens opened up and dumped the scrap heap DR500 in my lap at the booth across from our spot at barbers last year and the game was on! Ended up spending the better part of the year rebuilding every part of the bike into the crazy thing you see today. Turned out better than I expected!

Wow, you'd think that there would be more than 36 votes for BOTM. Surely there are more than 36 "regulars" popping in and out of here on a regular basis. I know the subject has been beat around before, but it would be nice to see more monthly recognition of the hard work, talent, and ingenuity represented.

Thanks for the love guys! I really do love and ride this bike a lot so I’m super stoked that you guys appreciate it as much as you do. It was fun because it had no rules so it was organic as I built it. I agree that it seems like folks don’t see these great bikes enough that get nominated every month, it’s cool for the guys who build them to get the love and the recognition for all of their hard work. We are already a community of weirdos so we might as well support one another with our digital high fives and ass pats!

It actually behaves very well. It is basically a swingarm setup just pointed to the front instead of the rear. Has a cool effect of anti dive built in and the leading link makes it super easy to steer.
