I was talking about this '80 cb750 I'm going to buy from a guy I know. He's asking $300 for it and I'm going to get it running and flip it. I also have the cb cafe bike listed on fleabay. It took me a good 6 years to finish it. But I did build a couple of bikes in between.

started out as an '81 custom.

-'79 yamaha XS750 tank modified to fit

81 CB750c still in build stage. Wiring up instruments next, sync carbs, and new exhaust and she should be ready for paint and powder coat for the summer! Cant beat it for a running bike for $900

The bike came out really nice. The only thing from a style perspective that is discordant to my eyes is the way the frame/seat/tank connect.

Have you played with possible side cover shapes? It looks like you could design a cover that integrated at the back of the tank sort of like the OEM covers but much less deep and with a lower edge that sweeps back to nothing at the rear of the seat. That would also cover up the top of the shock mount a little and might look pretty cool.

I played with some shapes and if you go too low with the lower edge it becomes very slab sided so stay high on teh lower edge and see what you think.

The green bike I did and posted a while back came back in for some more work....he finally agreed with my original opinion on painting it white instead of the green he wanted.....and he also wanted me to do a modern fork set.

So I used ZX9r forks, machined a stem to use the stock cb750 bearings, blasted and powdered the zx9 triples (they have 36mm offset which works NICE on the geometry here), custom made an axle and rotor adapter to retain use of speedo and spoked wheel, and repainted the tins. Still have to put my decals on the tank but I LOVE the way it came out.

First, how did you make the forks and swing arm work for the CB frame? It's inspired me to look into copying you!

The front was easy. Just swap the steering stem. Swing arm was machined narrower and make bushings so i can use cb orginal bolt.

There is many similar swaps made in this forum.

If i remember right a suzuki gsxr srad swing arm is allmost bolt on.

If you want a rear disc option, a pre-83 GPZ750/KZ750 swing arm needs only a ream on the swinger bolt to make fit. Their geometry is pretty much identical. The alloy 83+ have the rotating axle mounts to vary the rear wheel height, and would need to be converted from mono, but also basically bolt right up.
