dyna coils vs cheaper universal coils.

I'm replacing the coils on my 72 cb450. DCC sells a pair of dyna coils for $150. They also have universal coils that go for $25 each. So, are the dyna coils worth on extra $100? Is there another option that I should be looking at?

I doubt you'll notice any performance differences between the two.

I'll be useing a pamco electronic ignition, if that makes a difference?

The electronic ignition would help both coil options.

Here's the deal though... the way I see it, if a coil has a strong enough spark to ignite the mixture (lets assume they both do), then what good does a stronger spark do you?

If you are running a higher compression motor like I am, the hotter coil/s do/es help. Basically, if your compression outperforms your coil/s, the cylinder pressure can blow out the spark before it ignites the fuel. Obviously, this is not going to happen on stock compression unless you have a very weak coil. But if you are running hi-comp pistons or have extensive head work done, then a hot coil can definitely be of benefit to you. I have heard that a hotter coil will give you a slight performance advantage and better fuel economy than a stock coil on a stock motor, but I believe the gains are so small that they aren't really noticeable.
